As of 13 July 2026, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had received reports of 1’645 laboratory-confirmed domestically acquired cyclosporiasis cases from 34 states, with 141 hospitalizations and no deaths. In addition, more than 5’100 reported cases are still under review to determine whether they meet the definition of domestically acquired cyclosporiasis. Multiple states have reported substantially more cases than during the same period in 2025, and the CDC expects the case count to continue to rise because of a six-week reporting lag. Several multistate outbreak investigations are ongoing to identify the food sources.

Cyclosporiasis outbreaks have been reported repeatedly in the USA and have previously been linked to contaminated fresh produce, particularly leafy vegetables and fresh herbs.
