As of 15 September 2026, Nepal had reported 121 laboratory-confirmed Japanese encephalitis cases (+ 75 since mid of August 2026) and 26 deaths across all seven provinces. Jhapa district had the highest reported burden, with 13 cases and seven deaths. A vaccination campaign targeting adults over 30 began in Jhapa on 21 September.
