As of 17 August 2026, the CDC had recorded 15’716 domestically acquired, laboratory-confirmed cyclosporiasis cases across 47 states, including 828 hospitalizations and two deaths. Of these, 9’481 cases in 17 states were epidemiologically linked to Taylor Farms de Mexico iceberg lettuce recalled on 17 July.
Michigan remains the epicenter, reporting 13’909 cases, 314 hospitalizations and two deaths as of 13 August. Its higher figure includes all reported state cases, including infections not yet assigned to the lettuce-associated cluster and cases delayed by a laboratory backlog. Illness onsets have continued into August, although Michigan reports a declining trend in new infections.
The best-by dates for recalled Taylor Farms de Mexico products have passed. They should no longer be available in stores or restaurants. CDC is also investigating other outbreaks and illnesses of cyclosporiasis nationally that are unrelated to this outbreak.
