The Swiss Expert Committee on Travel Medicine (ECTM), in collaboration with malaria expert groups from four other countries, has updated its recommendations on malaria prevention. These partner groups include: Germany’s Ständiger Ausschuss Reisemedizin (StAR) of the German Society for Tropical Medicine, Travel Medicine and Global Health; the Belgian Study Group for Travel Medicine; the Netherlands’ National Coordination Centre for Traveller’s Health Advice (LCR); and Austria’s Österreichische Gesellschaft für Tropenmedizin, Parasitologie und Migrationsmedizin (ÖGTPM).
The 2025 updates (including written country-specific information and maps) focus on countries in Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Updates were also made for Guyana and Belize due to a marked increase in local malaria incidence. For details on the methodology, see publication.
